Advanced Placement Courses and Information

Advanced Placement courses provide students the opportunity to take challenging college coursework while still in high school. Students will experience college-level work to help prepare them for the academic skills necessary for college, explore course interests, and have the opportunity to earn college hours while still in high school.

By participating in an AP course, students are expected to take the AP exam in May. All students are automatically enrolled for the exam, unless the student opts out before October 11, 2024. Angleton ISD pays for the AP exams for students enrolled in the AP course. Once the exam order has been placed, the College Board charges a $40 cancellation fee. Should the student exit the course or not take the exam, the student will be responsible for paying the$40 unused test/cancellation fee.

If you are a home-schooled student and wish to take AP exams at Angleton High School, please contact Jessica Ramirez, Lead Counselor, at 979-864-8001, no later than October 11, 2024, to register for the exams. Per the College Board, AP Exam fees are $99 per exam, except for AP Seminar and AP Research, which are $147 per exam. Those fees must be paid upon registration for the exam.

Angleton High School offers many Advanced Placement Courses to students for the 2023-2043 school year. Please see your child's high school counselor to register.*Dual Language Students will take the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam at Angleton High School in 9th grade.

Reminders for Success

There are new short, mobile-friendly learning videos that can help you with AP this year. AP students should check out these “AP Daily” videos now on the AP Daily YouTube channel.

If your child is taking an AP course, they have access to additional support that is FREE to further help them learn and prepare for their May AP Exams, where students have the opportunity to earn college credit!

To help your child stay on track:

  • Use the join code provided by the AP teacher to join their class section in AP Classroom where you can practice skills, receive feedback on individual progress, and see real AP Exam questions.

  • Beginning September 1, AP Daily videos, on-demand lessons led by AP teachers from across the country, will be available in AP Classroom. Along with other free resources, additional daily support is provided for students. Students can watch videos at their own pace on a mobile device or desktop with internet access, and teachers can also include them as part of their curriculum. There are videos available for most courses.

  • Encourage your child to register for their AP Exams in the fall so they have the chance to stand out to college admissions officers and save money on tuition with a qualifying score of three or more.

The deadline to tell your AP coordinator you're registering for your AP Exam is October 11, 2024.
