Attention - Important Message

As many of you know, there was a school shooting in Georgia last week and another one yesterday in Nebraska. First of all, our hearts go out to the family and friends of all the victims in Georgia and Nebraska.

Any time there is a shooting, no matter the location, school districts across the nation experience a rise in reports of comments about potentially threatening behavior. This has been happening throughout Texas, and Angleton ISD has received calls and reports from parents and students who are concerned about a potential threat or about a comment they have heard from someone else. We have thoroughly investigated each report we have received concerning inappropriate comments and rumors that were threatening in nature, and these comments and rumors were found not to be credible. Students made poor choices when commenting.

Our main priority is the safety of our students and staff, and our administration takes any potentially threatening situation seriously and investigates them all thoroughly. AISD will follow the Student Code of Conduct to determine appropriate consequences for students who make threats or threatening comments, and law enforcement will be involved to determine any legal consequences.

Often, we have students who make poor choices when making comments that are of a threatening nature. These comments and the rumors that follow can cause unnecessary panic and can disrupt the school environment. We ask parents to talk with their children about the seriousness of making threatening comments of any kind and spreading rumors. There are serious consequences for making threatening comments in person or online.

We encourage students and parents to report any concerns immediately through one of the district’s reporting resources:

  • Contact or tell a campus administrator.

  • Contact or tell the AISD Police (979-997-7220).

  • Use the Anonymous Alerts system through the app or by clicking https://report.anonymousalerts.com/angletonisd/ or by visiting the AISD website and going to Keep AISD Safe (See it, Report it).

  • Call Crime Stoppers at 800-460-2222.

We also ask students and parents to use these appropriate methods to communicate threats or issues. Communicating threats through social media creates more issues and concerns for our students, parents and staff.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your child’s campus principal.
