UPDATE - Thursday, February 27, 2025 - 2:15 p.m.
Central Elementary is no longer doing the controlled release of students. Parents can still pick up their children early from school, but the school will now follow its normal pick-up and check-out procedures that go through the front office. Parents can check their children out of school at any time for the remainder of the day through the front office.

UPDATE - Thursday, February 27, 2025 - 1:15 p.m.
The “secure” at Central Elementary has been officially removed. We ask that parents still follow the controlled release schedule and plan that was sent out a little earlier so we can ensure the safest pick-up for our students.

UPDATE - Thursday, February 27, 2025 - 12:30 p.m.
Central Elementary has been approved for a controlled release of students that will start at 1:00 p.m. Buses will continue to run as normal at the end of the school day, and students can still be picked up at the end of the day. For those wanting to pick up their child earlier, there will be specific times for picking up students based on students’ last names, and it will be incredibly important for parents to pick up their children at their designated time to keep pick-up safe and the crowds from overwhelming the area. (The list of times is below.)
To pick up a student, you must be designated in the Skyward system to allow you to pick up the student. You must also have your ID with you. You will pick up the student(s) at Door 13 of the Central building, which is off of Anderson Street. Please review the attached map below with the proper pick-up route as some roads may be blocked.
Please help us keep the school safe by arriving at your designated time. Student pick-up times are assigned based on last names:
A-F - Pick up is at 1:00 p.m.
G-L - Pick up is at 1:45 p.m.
M-R - Pick up is at 2:30 p.m.
S-Z - Pick up is at 3:15 p.m.

UPDATE - Thursday, February 27, 2025 - 10:15 a.m.
We have had a report of a message going around telling parents to pick up their children at Central. That is not a message from Angleton ISD. Central Elementary remains in “secure” mode and will follow protocols. Students will not be released until the ”secure” has been removed. You will receive an official message from AISD when that happens, and we will continue to keep you updated.

UPDATE - Thursday, February 27, 2025 - 9:50 a.m.
The “secure” safety protocol calls for the Central Elementary campus to be closed and locked from any outside entrance and for students to remain in the building. Students will not be released from the campus until the all-clear has been given by the Sherrif’s Department and emergency personnel. The best thing parents can do is to stay clear of the area until the situation has been cleared. The emergency officials have told us that the safest place for our students is inside the Central building, and students will not be released at this time.

Attention Parents of Central Elementary Students
Thursday, February 27, 2025
This morning, Central Elementary went into “secure” mode due to a threat at the nearby Brazoria County Courthouse. Students and staff have been brought into the building and are safe.
The “secure” mode is one of the district’s emergency response protocols. Students and staff are brought inside the building, and all outside doors are locked. No one from outside is allowed inside during the “secure” mode, but the school operates as normal inside.
The “secure” was called as a safety precaution, and the district has sent additional police officers to the campus to aid in the “secure.” Again, students and staff are safe.
Emergency personnel are also asking people to stay clear of the area. We ask our parents of Central students not to come to the campus at this time. The campus will remain closed and locked until the “secure” is lifted, and students will not be released.
