At last week’s Angleton ISD Board of Trustees meeting, AISD presented several reports. One was the facility report given by AISD Superintendent Phil Edwards and consultants from PBK, the architectural planning and design firm the district has paid to assess the current facilities throughout the district. PBK reviewed the condition of the current facilities and broke down potential renovation needs into priorities and cost estimates. The review started in January 2024, and PBK architects completed site walks with various engineers. In addition to site visits, the firm surveyed AISD staff at different facilities, asking for their input on the sites. PBK Senior Project Manager Elizabeth Giusti says it is important to consider the usual “wear and tear” on a facility in relation to the age of some of the facilities. “We found that all of your campuses have been well maintained, but several of the needs throughout the district stem from systems just nearing the end of their life cycle,” Giusti said. “It’s also important to consider the equity of campuses, especially when comparing the existing ones to the new schools being built that will have new, more state-of-the-art structures, resources and systems.” PBK Principal Architect Sofia Dusek also says the report looked at several factors when analyzing and prioritizing the needs throughout the district. “We prioritized these needs into three levels looking at the Facility Condition Index (FCI) of each school, which is a tool that measures the condition of a facility and is used to help make decisions about maintenance, budgeting and upgrades,” she said. Important Statement from Angleton ISD - Wednesday, September 11, 2024 As many of you know, there was a school shooting in Georgia last week and another one yesterday in Nebraska. First of all, our hearts go out to the family and friends of all the victims in Georgia and Nebraska. Any time there is a shooting, no matter the location, school districts across the nation experience a rise in reports of comments about potentially threatening behavior. This has been happening throughout Texas, and Angleton ISD has received calls and reports from parents and students who are concerned about a potential threat or about a comment they have heard from someone else. We have thoroughly investigated each report we have received concerning inappropriate comments and rumors that were threatening in nature, and these comments and rumors were found not to be credible. Students made poor choices when commenting. Our main priority is the safety of our students and staff, and our administration takes any potentially threatening situation seriously and investigates them all thoroughly. AISD will follow the Student Code of Conduct to determine appropriate consequences for students who make threats or threatening comments, and law enforcement will be involved to determine any legal consequences. Often, we have students who make poor choices when making comments that are of a threatening nature. These comments and the rumors that follow can cause unnecessary panic and can disrupt the school environment. We ask parents to talk with their children about the seriousness of making threatening comments of any kind and spreading rumors. There are serious consequences for making threatening comments in person or online. We encourage students and parents to report any concerns immediately through one of the district’s reporting resources: -- Contact or tell a campus administrator. -- Contact or tell the AISD Police (979-997-7220). -- Use the Anonymous Alerts system through the app or by clicking https://report.anonymousalerts.com/angletonisd/ or by visiting the AISD website and going to Keep AISD Safe (See it, Report it). -- Call Crime Stoppers at 800-460-2222. We also ask students and parents to use these appropriate methods to communicate threats or issues. Communicating threats through social media creates more issues and concerns for our students, parents and staff. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your child’s campus principal.

The AJH School Market is looking for volunteers to help give back to the community. They are hoping to get 20-25 volunteers at each market. Volunteers help by helping give out food, placing food bags or boxes in vehicles, keeping the market area clean, entering intakes, and to supervise. There is volunteer training today, September 10th, at Angleton Junior High, in room C412. The first session is from 3:10pm-3:50pm. The other session is from 3:55pm-4:45pm. The School Market is a program through the Houston Foodbank that allows school districts to partner with them to help try to fill the gap of hunger with middle and high school kids. Anyone can use the school market starting with middle school kids to adults.
