Important Message from Angleton ISD - Tuesday, February 4, 2025 We want to make you aware that a neighboring school district recently released information related to a social media threat targeting their school district. Unfortunately, when one area school district is dealing with an issue like this, it often spreads fear and false rumors to other school districts. Again, this is not happening at Angleton ISD. We ask parents and students for their help in making sure false information does not spread. If you hear of a threat, the best thing you can do is report the threat through one of the district reporting resources. Please do not spread unverified information or rumors on social media. This only increases the fear for our Wildcat community. Our reporting systems are: -- Contact or tell a campus administrator. -- Contact or tell the AISD Police (979-997-7220). -- Use the Anonymous Alerts system through the app or by clicking https://report.anonymousalerts.com/angletonisd/ or by visiting the AISD website and going to Keep AISD Safe (See it, Report it). -- Call Crime Stoppers at 800-460-2222. Also, we ask parents to continue to talk to their children about not making threatening statements–whether on social media, in writing or verbally–and to avoid escalating situations through their behavior on social media. AISD does not tolerate violence or threats of violence in our schools. We will assign disciplinary consequences accordingly. We also work with our AISD Police Department and inform local, state and federal law enforcement officials to ensure appropriate legal consequences are given as well. Our top priority is always the safety of our students and staff, and we thank you for helping us as we work to ensure we keep our schools safe. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s principal.

Important Message from Angleton ISD - AHS Drumline Competition Incident Today, our Angleton High School Percussion Drumline was at a competition at Pasadena Memorial High School. There were 43 AHS students at the competition along with two band directors and a percussion technical consultant. At the end of the competition, as the band directors and technical consultant were leaving the school, an elderly male who was standing in the hallway took out a handgun and fired a shot. The technical consultant was hit in the shoulder and was transported to a Houston hospital. The victim never lost consciousness. The AISD percussion director left the scene unharmed and immediately got all AHS students on the bus. All AHS students were safely accounted for and have made their way home to Angleton safely and without further incident. Our information is that the elderly male was apprehended by Pasadena police. AHS will have counselors on campus first thing in the morning on Monday when school returns to provide support for the students involved in this incident and any other students affected by this incident. We are deeply saddened by this event, and we wish to commend the Angleton ISD staff for their quick and decisive action in keeping our students safe. Our current information is that this is an ongoing investigation in which AISD will fully cooperate. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected by the incident, and we will continue to provide the needed support for our students and staff.

Thank you, AISD School Board ! Leadership for Tomorrow's Texas - School Board Recognition Month (January 2025)
The January meeting began with a special recognition of the Angleton ISD Board of Trustees in honor of School Board Recognition Month. AISD is grateful for a dedicated board that passionately serves the Angleton community, ensuring the educational well-being of students and staff. “I can’t thank our board members enough for all their dedication to this district, the students, staff and AISD community,” AISD Superintendent Phil Edwards said. “We are very fortunate to have a board that works so well with each other and with the school district, and it’s because they all have a shared goal to support the students and staff of AISD and to make sure our students are provided with quality educational experiences and with opportunities for them to achieve success now and in the future. Their dedication is a true testament to their commitment to this community.” The board meeting went on to address several items of business including the replacement of the turf at Wildcat Stadium, new hires and more. Congratulations to Hannah Birdwell! The Angleton High School senior was surprised with a check for $500 from the Taylor Whitley Show Up Foundation, which awards grants/scholarships to high school and college students who exemplify “SHOWING UP.” The character-based award shines a light on individuals who show extraordinary acts by making a difference in others’ lives, which is fitting to the award’s namesake. Shannon Whitley started the Taylor Whitley Show Up Foundation to pay tribute to her late husband Taylor. Taylor, who passed away unexpectedly in 2018, believed in goodness, kindness and generosity. These were traits that were more than just words to him; they were deeds. His life and legacy could only be described as “SHOWING UP.”
